You will find that I have arrived before you. You'll know it's me because I've told you what I'm wearing, and I'll know it's you because you'll be in your little black dress and heels, just like we planned. I'll get up from my bar stool and greet you with a kiss on the cheek. There will be a drink waiting for you, and you'll be too polite to say you don't like it, but I'll know from the look on your face and we'll hand it back to the bartender and order you another. And another, until we find the one that makes your tongue curl up onto the roof of your mouth and your taste buds pop with the electricity of a first kiss. We'll be seated at our table next to one another, rather than across, because when you feel compelled to confess to me something you've never even told your girlfriends, you'll want to be whispering in my ear. And when I hold my hand out, palm up, you'll put yours in mine and feel the warmth of my pulse through my fingertips before you even realize that we're like little schoolchildren on a field trip to the museum. And maybe that's exactly where we'll go after dinner. To stroll hand-in-hand through the impressionists and the ancient sculptures on display, unearthed from the ruins of stone age civilizations just so we can marvel at the dexterity and imagination of an anonymous artist dead for three thousand years. When we reach the post-modern section, and we both exhale the sigh of boredom and confusion, I might put my arm around your waist and kiss you in front of Andy Warhol's ugliest self portrait. But it won't matter what's hanging on the walls anymore, because we'll be in our own little lightning cage, making all of our surrounding a blur. We'll run thru the hallways of the museum to find a night club where we can dance away the energy and excitement of a first date.
